A few words from our Secretary, Phil Johnson, on our recent "The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace" concert.
A HUGE THANK YOU from STOKE POGES SINGERS
A capacity audience in St John’s, Farnham Common were wowed by the singing and playing of the Stoke Poges Singers and the Stoke Poges Chamber Orchestra at our concert a few weeks ago. Karl JENKINS’ "The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace" was clearly a very popular choice!
Thanks to your support through ticket sales the raffle and donations on the night we raised over £1,600 for the local branch of the Royal British Legion. This is a fantastic sum, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who came along and made a contribution. As members of SPS it is a thrill to work towards and be part of a musical event as exciting as this one was. Knowing that this is also for a good cause makes it doubly so.
We are now taking a Summer break with rehearsals recommencing on Thursday, 1 September at St Andrew’s Church Hall. New members are always welcome as we embark on a musical journey around "Songs of the Cities". New York, Paris, Copenhagen, Memphis, Casablanca, Amsterdam anyone?
